Chief Prosecutor Says Case Against Taylor is Strong

During a recent press conference in Monrovia, Chief Prosecutor of the Special Court Stephen Rapp said that 62 witnesses will testify against Taylor when his trial resumes on January 7, 2008. Twenty of these witnesses will be Liberians who will testify about the linkages between Taylor and former RUF rebels, including Taylor’s provision of services in exchange for diamonds. According to Rapp, linkage witnesses are necessary to prove Taylor’s connection to crimes committed in Sierra Leone while he was President of Liberia. For more information, see the following article.
