Cross-Examination of Witness Jabati Jaward Continues

9:30am: Defense counsel Terry Munyard continued the cross-examination of Witness Jabati Jaward in open session.

During said cross-eaxmination, defense counsel sought to elicit information about monies given to the witness by the Office of the Prosecution or Witness and Victimes Services (WVS) when statements were being talen from him. Defense counsel raised questions about monies given for the witness’s family, transport allowance, medical treatment for witness, and loss of wages.  The witness admitted to receiving monies from WVS but said he could not remember the amounts and the dates that said monies were given. He, however, emphacised that such monies were not payments for his testimony but purely for medical issues, relocating his family and loss of wages.

Defense counsel also solicited information from the witness about whether he had any contacts with people who have already testified in the trial. The witness said while he knew the people whose names he had heard of having testified already, he has not had any contacts with them since they testified.

Court adjourned for mid-morning break.
